Obituary

Helen Deltuvia, 85, of Jackson, died Saturday, June 25, at HMH Jersey Shore University Hospital, Neptune, NJ.

Helen was born in Brooklyn, NY, and resided there until her 1962 marriage to the late Jack Deltuvia. After living for a short time in New Brunswick, South River, Ocean Township, and Howell, NJ, she and her husband settled along with their two sons in 1968 in Jackson, NJ. They had a daughter a year to the day after they moved to Jackson.

Prior to her marriage, Helen was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas School, Flatlands, Brooklyn, and Catherine McAuley High School, Brooklyn, NY. She worked as a telephone operator for New York Telephone and as a receptionist for a Wall Street firm. After marriage, her primary job was taking care of three children, although as they grew older, she worked briefly as a bookkeeper for Freehold Music Center and a transit operator for Howell State Bank.

Helen was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Jack (2007); her parents, Patrick and Ellen Norcott of Valley Stream, NY; and her brother, James (Carol.) She is survived by three grieving children whom she loved very much: John Jr. (Elizabeth) of Jackson, NJ; Patrick, of North East, MD; and Ellen Stiles (Don-Marc) of Jackson, NJ. She is also survived by several siblings, Mary, Annette, John, Patrick (Carol), and Thomas (Cathy), as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the George S. Hassler Funeral Home, 980 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson, NJ, 08527. A funeral gathering will be offered at 9 AM on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at the funeral home.

Helen's funeral liturgy will follow at 10 AM at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church,935 Bennetts Mills Rd., Jackson. NJ, 08527. Interment will follow in St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, 1 Honey Locust Dr., Lakewood, NJ, 08701; family and friends are welcome to attend the interment and the collation thereafter at Donovans Bar and Grill in Manchester, nearby to the cemetery.
